A sitting Monkey

We have been working on sitting. Most of the time the Wonder Twins just topple over. Today, Monkey Boy stayed up! He sat long enough for me to run and get the camera, then snap a few pics. I finally laid him on his tummy when he started getting red in the face and looked at me with that "SAVE ME MOMMY!" look on his face. I am so proud of him!

An Ah Ha Moment

Monkey Boy has fought sleep... pretty much since he was born. He is an easy going guy the rest of the time... But, when it comes to Night night time... He fights with the best of them.

A couple of weeks ago we set up the second crib. Frog had been sleeping in a mini-pack-n-play in their room. Monkey Boy is a mover and we were afraid he would kick his sister or roll on top of her. Anyway, we needed the pack-n-play for Ms. K's naps. Since she can stand and is cruising, we needed a sleeping place where she was safe and couldn't climb out.

Anyway, we put the two cribs right up next to each other. I SWEAR I heard angels singing when we did this! Monkey boy can gaze at little Frog as they go to sleep.

Since then, Monkey Boy has slept through the night... wakes up smiling... and generally goes down for a nap with very little fuss!

OH... There you are!

The Wonder Twins are starting to notice each other. Sometimes Monkey Boy smiles at Little Frog... sometimes he acts as though she isn't there.

In this clip Froggy kept watching and waiting for Monkey to pay attention to her. When he did, she got SO excited!

The baby fussing in the background is the little girl I watch, Miss K. This helps so that I can stay home. It was her first week with us. She had some trouble transitioning to a new house without mommy there all the time. I am happy to say that by the 4th day there was only a couple of minutes of separation tears. The rest of the day was filled with laughing, exploring, pulling toys out everywhere, and enjoying the company of Monkey Boy and Little Frog.

Chicken Pox

One day last year I was talking to my students... we were talking about something most of us had experienced, and I asked how many had gotten chicken pox. I expected all of them to raise their hands. NO ONE DID!!!! I was shocked.

Now I have twins and am questioning the chicken pox vaccination. It hasn't been around for very long and I have read that they aren't sure if the vaccine will last through adulthood. If a person gets chicken pox as an adult it can be SO much worse!!!

What do you think? Should I have them get the shot? Would it be better to just let them get it like we all did?

Another worry is that my husband hasn't ever had chicken pox. Could he be immuned? Or, could either getting the shot... or letting them get the chicken pox be worse?

Touchy touchy

Yesterday I went to the grocery store. I just had the Monkey boy with me. So, I just carried him. We were just picking up a few items, including ice trays to freeze baby food.

I could not find the trays. I looked everywhere they told me to look... and Z was getting quite heavy!

Finally, they sent this guy to help me. They were on an isle with the drinks... I never thought to look there.

Anyway, after we grabbed a couple he was talking to Z. I didn't want to be rude since he helped me. So, I stood there for a second and let him make faces and noises at Monkey Boy. THEN... he touched Z's feet. Not too big a deal... but not something I like. THEN... he reached up and actually touched HIS FACE!!!!!! And his hands weren't exactly emmaculate! I pulled Z away and headed out. I was furious!

As soon as we got to the car I used a wipe to scrub his face and his feet. Who knows what kind of germs were on that guys hands!

WHERE do people get off touching other peoples children!!!!! I don't go up and TOUCH his face! Other people have done this too! I don't know how many times I have actually had to say, "Look but don't touch."

"Hello, Mr. Sun!"

B was in her Jumperoo this afternoon. I was sitting beside her spinning the sun-ball, while finishing a very good book (I know... However, I was right next to her... I have to have a little break from two babies sometimes!). Anyway, she squealed and laughed. I looked up to see her staring at the ball. I spun it and she smiled and squealed... SO... I just HAD to get the camera!!!!

Just like Christmas!!!!

Twice a year our local Twins and Triplets group has a big consignment sale. I went for the first time on Friday night. I got so many clothes for Z and B. I was SO excited!!!! I think we are set for the next 6 months! I got around 75 items and spent around 150. If I had bought everything new it would have cost me tons!

I got 3 items that I am most proud of...

One, a new diaper bag. It is a backpack, like my old one... but is at least twice as big, as two more pockets AND has 4 bottle holders (two on the outside) rather than just the two on the inside that the old one had. I spent $15 on it, but would have spent $50 for this particular one in the store.

The second item was padding for the corners of our fireplace hearth. If I had bought these in the store the would have cost about $45 for the pieces we needed. I got them for $3!!!!!

Finally, my favorite piece was a winter coat for Z. It is a blue, corderoy, hooded, pea coat that is lined with flannel. It is SO cute and in SUCH good condition! I spent $8 on it. I'm sure it would have cost around $50 in the store!

I LOVE getting a good bargain!

My little Monkey Boy

Yesterday we started Avocado. We are trying to feed the babies natural foods instead of jarred. Anyway, I was moving the spoon towards Z's mouth. Before I could blink he reached up and GRABBED the spoon from my hand! The quick action made the avocado flick off of the spoon and splatter on his face. I couldn't help but totally crack up!

Z has also gotten stronger and stronger. He now can stand unassisted (yes, he is only 4 1/2 months old) while holding onto something. In this picture he is holding onto my tank top... He is such a BIG BOY!!!!!!

Mommy gets a time out

Sunday morning we were getting ready to go to a big Flea Market our city has each weekend. I knew when I was bending over to get Bree that I was doing it wrong, but I didn't listen. I lifted and SNAP huge pain in my lower back. I dropped her back into the bouncer (she was only about an inch up and didn't seem to notice anyway) and hobbled to the lazy boy. I could hardly walk the rest of the day.

Yesterday I went to the chiropractor. He said he won't rule out a slipped disk. It has happened to me before. So, I have to take it easy for a few days.

Mostly, I sit in the lazy boy. I have some pain meds left over from the c-section. So, those make things much much better (I take them sparingly, but am assured they are OK while breast feeding). Brett brings me babies, diapers, bottles, food, clothes to fold... whatever. Everything is done from sitting (originally from laying). Each day it gets a little better. Thank God he was able to stay at home a couple of days... as we would have been totally lost without him. I'm so lucky to have such a wonderful husband!

Disappointment

Today I received jewelry that I had bought at a jewelry party a few weeks ago. The earrings were so tarnished they looked brown! I was very disappointed. The hostess showed her. She said to give it to me anyway. The seller said I could pay to ship it back and they would send me new ones.

First of all, I don't have the extra time to ship it back! Am I wrong to be royally P-O'd? I just feel if I buy something from you, you should make sure it is in good condition before you give it to me.

I will not buy stuff from her again!

Making history

Last night Brett and I were feeding the Wonder Twins their last feed before bed. We were watching the news... we were watching all the feed about Bonds' "Record Breaking Home Run Hit". I smiled to myself thinking about how this is one of those things that we will talk about when they get older.

"Mom/Dad where were you when Bonds hit the 756th home run?"

"We were all together. We were feeding you... loving you... enjoying the fact that we could share this moment in history with you."

Those "where were you when"s so often mention some tragedy in history... I'm glad to have a happy, good one to share with my kids."

Tired

Once a week my triathlete husband goes for a group bike ride after work. I think it is a necessity for his training... since he is home every other night to help put babies to bed. However, it never fails that the day seems EXTREMELY long to me!

Z and B did not take an afternoon nap. Z finally slept for about 20 minutes... but his sister was wide awake. Then, Z woke up... and Bree started fussing- "TIME FOR BED". I put Z in the high chair, ready to feed them their evening oatmeal and other (tonight it was bananas).

I scooped Bree out of the jumperoo and felt wet on my arm. I looked down to see poop smeared all down my arm!!!! UGH!!! Apparently, her jumping was squishing it out... YUCK!!!! Emergency bath time!

Cleaned B... dressed, diapered, etc. Put her in the highchair, fed them, read her a book, then put her to bed. Played with Z for about 10 minutes, repeated the routine. Both are now in bed.

Now, I am worn out! No on told me being a SAHM would be harder than teaching! Don't get me wrong, I LOVE it!!! I wouldn't want to be anywhere else. But, I don't know of any other job that you are on task 24/7. I don't think people have any idea! I know my husband tries... but I don't think he would survive doing this every day.

On to eat dinner... reboot/refresh... and wake up tomorrow to start again. I am SO thankful to be with my two every day... but, right now I'm tired.

10 things I think about cloth diapering

1. Doublers at night are a MUST!

2. Diaper pins are scary!

3. Snappi's are one of the worlds greatest inventions!

4. Kissaluv's are adorable, but I haven't figured out how to use them without leaks.

5. Wet cloth diapers make babies VERY HEAVY!

6. Fuzzi Buns are our favorite so far.

7. Kushi's are Daddy friendly... (I definitely need to get more!)

8. Every time I think about how good cds are for my babies, I smile!

9. By the end of 6 weeks I will already be saving money (I was spending about $20 a week on disposables and I have spent about $120 on cds so far).

10. For everyone who said it would be impossible to cd twins... "You were so wrong!" I can do what I set my mind to.

Matching twins

Generally, the Wonder Twins do not have on identical clothes. Even though they are twins, I try to dress them differently most of the time. I feel like they need to be treated as individuals, not a unit.

However, someone gave us these matching sleepers. For the first time, they are dressed the same... The only difference is the bow in Bree's hair.

I have to admit, they do look cute... but to me... they ALWAYS look cute!!!

Twins x 4

Today we had a day of twins! At 10:30 we met my friend M. Her twins are about 23 months. They are identical boys are and so ADORABLE! However, watching them made me worry a little about things to come. They were here... then there... then over yonder... etc. She was smart and brought a friend with her to help keep track of them. She said when she goes alone she goes to a fenced in area. She is a fellow teacher... and such a good mommy!

After we came home for bottles, naps (while mommy mopped and vacuumed), and a little play time two other twin mommies came over for a play date. K and S both have twins that are about the same age as mine. S's are 1 day older. K's are 9 days younger.

6 babies and only 3 mommies can feel a little crazy! We had 2 boys and 4 girls. The two boys were the quietest. Zane slept for the first hour. Meanwhile, Bree let everyone know how loud she can scream. It was a little embarrassing to have THE loudest baby of the group! She just wanted to make sure everyone gave her all the attention!

We had a good time. The babies enjoyed watching each other. S's twins enjoyed trying out our little swing... K's twins enjoyed batting around some hanging toys with Bree. All us mommies enjoyed chatting with others who understand what life with twin babies is like.

I definitely need to do this more often... just maybe not 3 in one day.
