Going to bed... me

So, I went to bed around 11... AGAIN. I know I should be going to bed at 10. My body needs sleep... but I can't make myself. Is anyone else in this boat?

The twins go down around 7:30 or 8. Then, dh is either out training or we watch a show together. Around 9:30-10 he goes to bed. Then it is just me.

There I am. No one to wait on. No reason to clean. No one to watch over. Nothing but me, the computer, TV, books, etc. I check e-mails. I catch up on shows. I do things for me. It is quiet. It is nice.

Then, around 10:45 I realize I should already be in bed. I kick myself for staying up so late. Once in bed I can't sleep because I need even more time to wind down. Around 12 or 1 I am usually asleep.

I didn't use to have this problem... but then... I didn't use to have kids. Do I need to be more disciplined? Do I need to find other "me" time? Or can I just keep going on like this?

I think you are doing and feeling what every other mom on this planet is doing and feeling. Including me. But I stay up MUCH later!!! If I am to bed before midnight I am super proud oy myself!

YAWN!

Then it gets really bad when you get off work a little early and the kids are still at the sitters and you decide to catch up on some blogs before you get them. No one will no though...well except you cuz I just told you! :) Ok I better go get my kids now!

I totally understand.
Chris doesn't need a lot of sleep so he's usually up when I get home from work at midnight. At that point he wants to go right to bed but I need some time to wind down. but he usually harrasses me enough that I just go with him.
I absolutely LOVE it on the occasional night when he has already gone to bed. AAAAAHHHHH!!!! the house to MYSELF!!! Two nights last week I stayed up til 4am!! Stupid I know but it was glorious and I'm still alive. I am able to take a nap during the day when they do so I've stopped worrying about how little sleep I get at night. Plus they don't wake up til 9ish and don't demand me to get them up til 10ish so it's not like I'm up at the crack of dawn either.
The greatest gift I could ever receive right now would be for a week ALONE in my own house, but sadly that is never going to happen.
OH! I take melatonin every night to help me fall asleep. it works great and doesn't make you feel groggy.

In the same boat over here. Babies in bed at 8. Hubby and I watch tv together and then we have our "me" time. I usually blog, read blogs, edit photos upstairs while he works downstairs. I go to bed at 11...my hubby is a night owl so he comes to bed at 2. We are both up at 7 so for me this is enough sleep. I say if you're not too tired and groggy keep with it. My hubby says he'll sleep when he's old. =) Quiet free time is a precious commodity around here!

I'm 40 years old, the Evil Twin is 49 - we are total night owls and have been all our lives. These days, he goes to bed before I do most of the time. I really need that "me" time in the evenings. Usual bedtime for me is midnight or so and I get up at 6:30 on school days. As a stay at home mom, I'm able to catch a cat nap at some point - like 20 mins/half an hour while my littlest (2 yr old) watches a show. It keeps me going.

Hi, I'm a new commenter.

Like everyone else, I'm in the same boat. My 20 month old twins go to bed at 7:30 PM and I often have trouble going to bed before midnight. Unfortunately, they are early risers (6 AM or earlier...ugh), so I'm in a constant state of tired. I'm trying to figure out how two nightowls produced two early birds.

Anyway, I love your blog, and am trying to catch up on everything :)
